William (Bill) Main (1934–2023)

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the recent death of photographer, teacher, historian, writer, and gallerist William (Bill) Main.
Bill wrote many pieces for PhotoForum, and co-wrote the major PhotoForum publication "New Zealand Photography From the 1840s to the Present" (1993).
We recently published a profile of Bill’s photography Gallery EXPOSURES, which he operated in Wellington from 1984 to 1990.

We share here a link to the tribute by Lissa Mitchell published on the Te Papa blog, with contributions from John B Turner and Geoffrey Batchen.
