Art Teaching Professionals: Photography get together in memory of Harvey Benge
At the end of last year the photography community in Auckland, and globally, was saddened at the loss of the artist and photographer Harvey Benge. He was a powerhouse of the photobook and was always generous with his time and support for emerging photographers. His family wish to continue this tradition in his passing and have very kindly offered to donate a large portion of his back catalogue of photobooks to art and photography libraries in New Zealand secondary schools. To help facilitate this the Rangitoto College Visual Arts Department will be hosting an event to reflect on Harvey's work, network with art teaching professionals, and share around a selection of his books:

· Wine and nibbles will be provided by our department.
· The event will include a conversation with art and photography consultant and photobook expert Anita Tótha about Harvey’s work.
· Members of Harvey's family will be joining us. They will be introducing the inaugural Harvey Benge Photography Scholarship, for a secondary student to study photography at a tertiary level.
· Feel free to bring along photography folio boards for others to view and discuss. I will also have my Level 3 photobook unit (3.2) to show, along with outcomes (feel free to bring yours from any level if you have them too).
· We will have sets of books to take away for school art departments at no cost. Register by emailing me to ensure you don’t miss out on a set.
