A beam of light moves at the edge of vision.

Water gathered in two hands quietly escapes through the spaces between fingers.

A stone falls into a deep pool; its brief echo crosses the surface before disappearing into invisible depths.

We observe disappearance, and we observe what remains.

When form withdraws, when sound becomes silent, when existence is no longer visible—does it cease to exist?

After Empty (《空空》) is a group exhibition curated by Ryan Sun and presented by bARTroom in Jingdezhen, China.

Bringing together artists from China, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand, the exhibition explores the concept of emptiness not as absence, but as a state of openness, transformation and possibility. Through sculpture, ceramics and interdisciplinary artistic practices, the participating artists examine the relationships between presence and disappearance, material and immaterial, memory and time.

Located in Jingdezhen—one of the world’s most historically significant centres of ceramic culture — After Empty creates a dialogue between traditional material knowledge and contemporary artistic exploration. The exhibition invites audiences to reconsider emptiness as an active space: a place where perception shifts, meanings emerge, and new relationships between humans, objects and the world become possible.
