Webb’s is delighted to announce the upcoming single owner, online photography auction—An Important Collection of Historic New Zealand Photography Part I.

Assembled over several decades by the late Roger Ward (1945–2023), this exceptional collection brings together more than 1,500 original photographs documenting communities, landscapes, and the built environment at formative moments in the country’s history.

While many of these historic photographs have been held overseas for decades, their presentation in Aotearoa New Zealand represents a form of repatriation—returning these taonga to the whenua and kaupapa from which they emerged.

Bidding will take place online, with select highlights on view at Webb’s Mount Eden Gallery alongside the Material Culture Live Auction catalogue.
