I found this beautiful spot on a west coast beach in the North Island. There were pools of water contained in a small shallow ponded area, flooded by rain, high tides and the outwash of water from a nearby flax filled swamp. This area was rich with colour on and under the water, black, red, orange, yellow sand and earth lay beneath the pools. This created a prismatic floating oil like stained skin that shimmered with colour and fractured into nothing when the slightest breeze touched it. These stains, the remnants of natural decay washed out of the swamped earth. An ever changing, ever dancing palette of coloured miracles, delicately, briefly, holding the cosmos, creatures and wonders. All dancing, all swirling hovering above the coloured sand in an endless coming and going, no two moments the same.
