Exploring the landscapes and cultural backdrop of post Soviet Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Tourism is a striking counterpoint to large scale petroleum industry on which economic growth has been based. The local populations pride in their survival of hardship in a stark climatic region. Stunning natural landscapes and harsh lifestyles is clearly a key driver for sustaining their national identity and economic survival. These images were captured in late 2024.
