Samuel Scully is a photographer concerned with the cultures of masculinity and contemporary mythologies within rural Aotearoa, most specifically the Manawatu and Whanganui regions. Utilising a subjective documentary approach that melds staged scenes, still life and landscape images, Samuel creates strategically ambiguous photographs that act as a "rorschach test", asking the viewer to engage in a revaluation of their own relationship and knowledge of rural Aotearoa.
