New Zealand Landscape Photography Room, Aorere Museum of Art
Amoa… the Aorere Museum of Art opened in September in the restored Post Office building in Collingwood, Golden Bay by founders James Alker and renowned landscape photographer Craig Potton. The museum is home to a unique collection of mostly New Zealand Modern Art and included in the various exhibition rooms are two photography galleries; one is an historic survey of New Zealand landscape photography and the other is devoted to the work of American photographers Ansel Adams and Elliot Porter. Much of the work featured in the new gallery has a strong land based theme, even though many of the paintings are abstract in nature. The New Zealand landscape photography room offers a wide range of work from early European settlement through to contemporary artists.
